Although TV is a bunch of crap (except for very few channels I enjoy eg History, Discovery, and certain movies) I chose to let my daughter watch TV. Kids/Teens have a way of gaining more interest on something if we say "no you cant", they end up doing it anyway. I know this because thats how I was growing up. Everything my mom told me not to do I ended up doing. So what I do is I let her watch TV BUT I am by her side, explaining things and being available to her when she asked questions about the stuff she would be curious about. I think thats worked ok so far for us. I realized that today-- we cant just switch off the TV and leave our children wondering and in the dark. There was a zombie flick the other day and I told her exactly what it was, latex and make up for the face and a bunch of corn syrup and red coloring for the blood. It felt good knowing that she knows that now.
