A Breath of Fresh Air

I first heard Cora Flora when I came across her song "Twin Flame" when a friend of mine on Facebook posted the video... and I thought it was pretty neat, how someone with such talent in singing has chosen to sing about true love and dreams...and a lot more subjects that uplift and inspire, and strengthen the soul... Since then I kind of found a new way to relax , calm my nerves and heal through her music alone. She writes and plays them herself too, which is so important considering the way a lot of music is created and package and sold and received today... most of them sound so artificial. Cora Flora brings a breath of fresh air to this industry. I love what she is doing and only hope that more and more artists follow suit. . She is such a gift to this world that needs constant healing and the energy of love.

Tell me about the birth of your music.

I've been singing since I was a baby. I've always loved singing. My mom always sang in the house. It's something that came easily to me. I never really thought I had a pretty voice or anything. All I knew is that I just liked to sing. And in my happiest most loving moments I sing.. So just following that path, I first started writing songs when I was 13. I'm so grateful that I had that outlet to get through the turbulent teenage world. And songs just started to pour out. I've always love writing too. I write in my journal, and all my stories and poetry and songs... It became a natural evolution.

I've been writing songs for many years and just like you, just doing it and just following that path of self discovery. Now I feel like music is more than just pretty sounds, music is a vibrational energy... It's very powerful and I believe it has the potential to illuminate, awaken, and enlighten people.

I noticed you sing a lot about dreams and love and healing. Is this all from experience?

Yes... Most of my songs come from personal experience. Its weird because I don't often think "Id like to write a song about this" it just kind of happens. Like all of a sudden this burst of emotion, whatever it is, it could be about love or flowers or the ocean or healing.

I remember waking up very early at 3 in the morning, from a nightmare. I was just trying to go back to sleep and I still had all this fear in my body. I had a bath and I did some writing finally what really helped me feel better was singing. The beautiful thing is , it's the darkest just before dawn. Sometimes the hardest experiences, when music helps me pull through them, they just become such beautiful songs like song that came after my nightmare was all about "Golden light of love" ...just an invocation for that love light and celebration my intention is that the song would not only help me but help anyone who hears it to connect with that golden light of love which is cleansing and connecting.

Your fondest memories as a child.

Interesting question... What first pops in my head , I remember just after dinner, my family would use to always have this ritual where the kids would dance and my mom and dad would sit in the couch and watch us dance and that's kind of like their entertainment. I love dancing.

Tell me something about you that not a lot of people know that you probably want them to.

I love Oracle cards, and I do inspirational card readings. Pretty soon I would like to make my own Oracle Cards...

Just this just this morning I was painting (even if my logical money stressed mind was saying why would you paint? its not practical;) I realized it is actually way more practical than worrying and it connects to source and joy... I'm feeling really inspired to make them...

And just today too I was getting inspiration one day Id like to do musical oracle cards like do an album of all these different songs where it's kind of like an oracle card where you choose a random one and it will provide you with guidance for what you're going through.

Any regrets?

You know what, I don't think I have any... because everything that's happend to me has helped me to grow and I find I do regret something it's just draining on my present. I look back and I say.. "Wow , everything in my life is perfectly designed"... whether it be painful or challenging or awesome synchronistic its all perfect.

I'm a big fan of the Beatles, Janis Joplin etc.Who were your influences growing up?

Sarah Mchlachlan is one. Looove her! I love Jewel growing up too... Ani Difranco. Those are from a song-writing perspective. But from a a musical perspective I like Claude Debussy .... And "Air" , they're a French band I love Sufjan Sstevens too, they're really good.

I also have this friend her name is Ginger Doss. She calls her self a "song shaman" I feel so inspired by her - songs , they are so transforming, healing, and a lot of them carry ancient wisdom. from different times. I feel there as so many now coming out in music who are bringing forth ancient gifts ... In the 80s and 90s a lot of the music was saturated with ego and that's ok it's part our journey but I always felt this longing for something deeper and I feel like now I'm doing this, and I'm aligning with others who are doing the same and for me that's awesome.

What have you learned from yourself lately?

That life doesn't give me anything I can't handle. Life is always supporting me. When I look back --I definitely went into my own 'underworld'. there was a time where I was just so depressed --- I 'd like to use the analogy of "poo" all this stuff is crap and the beautiful thing is that when it sinks into Mother Earth she can recycle it into fertile soil for something new to grow in. It's also like a butterfly, when a caterpillar is still in the cocoon it dies in a way, and emerges again as a butterfly. The new cells they basically feed off the old cells.

Every time I experience a challenge I always carry that forward in my everyday life . When I walk in the street as any normal person and just be I find I'm really sensitive... I would feel people's crap and I would feel their pain ... I realized in every sing moment I have the power to heal it -- through prayer, through invoking and sending love light. I have the power of magic miracles and with total faith there's nothing we can't do... We're totally gonna bring this new world into being... I learned too that it's important that we support each other just like what we're doing right now...just to stay on track.

How do you feel about 2012?

Right before the new year came I realize the law of attraction is becoming stronger...That what we think and what we feel is manifesting even faster into our reality these days. That's something I think is very challenging to a lot of people... It's been happening more and more .... 2012 is like a gateway for more and more of it and part of that is a lot of challenges. But I feel it's just a catalyst for all our hearts to awaken... It's kinda like a birth its probably gonna be painful for a lot of people and some things may fall away to make way for the new.

I feel were welcoming a golden age of spiritual embodiment and heaven on earth... where there's many of us living authentically from the heart with all the wisdom that's out there being shared now it's just going to be amazing. I see myself playing lots of music... Sharing lots of joy and feel my relationship with the Earth and live with her while I send healing to all my relations.

What would you tell kids who dream to do the same thing you are doing but is pressured by their parents to achieve something else (for obvious reasons)?

Follow your heart... it knows the way. Our hearts are our connection to our soul and to the Great Spirit. Even if its simple its very powerful.

What is LOVE?

When I tune in to the feeling its home to who I am... its the best feeling.

What about you?

Love? It's something that was given true meaning by my daughter a couple years back. I asked her what love is and she said "Love means being together" ...When she said that it was the most powerful and profound thing I heard.
