"THRIVE" The Movie 2011 : A Review

I just saw this movie and some people are asking me about my views on it. So here goes: Awesome trailer, it really built the hype. I enjoyed the first part where it discusses the Torus and Vector Equilibrium... I like the idea of free energy as an alternative to all our dependencies that compromise our lives and the lives of others. I was hoping to see more of that and how that plays out when applied in a larger scale, but the subject sort of just faded at some point before the narrator jumped into the subject of money and power.

As a whole I wasn't impressed with this movie. It didn't speak to my soul. I had to watch this moview twice and I did not finish it actually, the first time I watched it. As soon as it got to the point where they were featuring the website and when it began to look like a long advertisement for yet another corporate name and entity, I stopped watching. But, for the sake of the review, I needed to view it in its entirety. So I did, even if doing so did not make a difference. It's all been said and done before, and the problem remains.

I don't know.... perhaps because I am tired of seeing all these conspiracy theories, revelations or exposés recycled and packaged as new information to be sold to the general public. I choose to break away from this pattern for no other reason but that I aim to free myself from discourse that encourages blame or judgement over responsibility, and by this I mean accepting the failures of others, learning from it and seeing what it awakened in me, and moving on from it.

I'm more interested to see a viable solution , versus just a breakdown of alleged causes of the problem... There were tips and some advice given, but nothing that hasn't been said before... I am more interested to see how we can truly THRIVE in this world, not as victims, rather as HEROES, accountable for our shortcomings, our mistakes, having faith in our own path and course, making our own decisions rather than letting others decide for us... knowing ourselves rather than being quick to follow a crowd if only to be accepted and to appear noble or wise.

I only hope that whoever watches this will not begin to depend on thrive.com in order to 'thrive' (if you know what I mean) and that the viewers transform their worlds for the better , not by living their lives trying to prove that they are right, but by simply DOING right.

To each his own though and I am not here to argue with anyone, if it enriches your soul, then good for you. I honor the efforts baked in this cookie, but I don't think I can eat it. I've had too much of this taste, my soul seeks new flavor... New food... I need something raw... and something that will truly nourish me... Something I must cook myself... home style... with lots of gratitude, acceptance and forgiveness and blessed with kindness, compassion, and lots of hope sprinkled on it. That should be more satisfying-- for me at least.

  1. You really shouldn't critique something if you haven't finished it, especially when you shut off the movie before he addresses your critique. My initial reaction was much like yours when he started on the website talk, but upon reflection he is just one of many websites popping up around the world for the purpose of facilitating connection and synergetic action amongst people who want to do exactly what you describe wanting to do. Living our own dreams is the core need, I fully agree. Combine that with increased connection and we become further empowered to do so through collaboration. After you turned off the film he addresses the importance of individual sovereignty and freedom.

  2. it didn't speak to my soul either. while I am aware of what's going on and I appreciate the movie for showing others, I felt that it also was leading to something else, like as if it is about to back someone politically or an advertisement for something else. I just hope people will follow their guuidance and not be so quick to believe someone who is revealing the truth or parts of the truth.

  3. everyone is a critic... foster gamble and the people at thrive created something which can be critiqued.. the gist of the film is encapsulated in an easy to swallow format, it is important information that the "masses" would do well by making themselves familiar with.. just ask the person next to you if they know who nikola tesla is.. the person who invented the means of getting the electricity to your home is not mentioned in public school curriculum, ask yourself why? but the man who credited with the light bulb is? without electric distribution, lights out.

  4. New Age sugar coating for bigotry, hate and blame.. Gee, if we just get rid of a few bankers of a certain ethnic group we will have Utopia.. Like David Icke doesn't know this is the same hatred Hitler used for the Holocaust.. Wolves in sheep's clothing! Use discernment when viewing.. For next it may you they blame for the world's ills!!!

  6. I loved the film so much I've had most of my family watch it including my wife, my father and my son. That's three different generations of people and it was compelling and thought provoking for all three generations.

I'm passing on the word to my friends about the film.

  7. I’d like to join those saying this film was utter bunk. Often, it was incoherent. Rather than direct claims that can be tested, it uses implication, innuendo. It makes logical errors that should embarass a high school sophomore. The low production values reveal a cluelessness about the real world that belies a very low state of awareness. The jumping from subject to subject was confusing and confused. And when actual claims ARE made, they are no evinced. At all.

The burden of proof is on THRIVE, not on those who doubt it. It profers claims that VIOLATE THE LAWS OF PHYSICS. People like to say “well, historically, many claims have seemed impossible or contradicted the dominant paradigm, but turned out to be true.” Indeed. But:

    1. claims that violate basic established physical laws are VERY RARELY EVINCED. Can you name one? Anybody?

    2. For claims that contradict the dominant paradigm to be accepted, there must be a lot of EVIDENCE. There is NONE here.

    3. Claims that contradict the dominant paradigm are INDEED often accepted, eventually. That fact doesnt help your case! It proves that mainstream science does NOT ignore or marginalize new theories. Rather, it INVESTIGATES them. Scientists LOVE to overturn old ideas. But they only do so with GOOD REASON, not just because it sounds nice and resonates with your crystals.

    4. As a counter to THRIVES claim, I offer THE ENTIRE KNOWN ANNALS OF SCIENCE. What have you got that matches that?

    5. You cannot claim science supports your view, and then dismiss science when it doesnt.

    6. The idea that questioning the dominant system is somehow taboo or rarely heard these days is absurd. Questioning the system is common as water. It’s critical thinking that’s rare, and there’s none of it here.

  8. it's interesting in that this film excites all these pseudo intellects to negate the possibilities contained therein.

  9. Thanks for your review. When I first saw Thrive, I felt a subtle repulsion. It was probably the style of the film and that I feel that I'd seen just about everything on the topics discussed. I saw it a few more times to figure out what was making me feel uneasy about this film, and still couldn't put my finger on it. This is one reason I haven't reviewed it. But it is a good 101 in what's wrong with the world right now and a quick way to educate people who don't know much about this stuff.

I saw some interviews with Mr. Gamble on Time Monk Radio (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SCW2eR0_Tc&feature=related) and Lilou's channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oO39Bif9hL0). He seemed to be integrous with what he was saying. That is, he didn't slip and say, "Hail Satan" or anything. But he did say he went to all the private schools that other elite family-types went to. It's possible that many members of these families don't feel connected to what the Big corporations are doing. Gamble said his family doesn't really participate in the business anymore.

There's just a feeling for me that's strange. It may be that I'm moving into a space where I don't relate to the new age sheeple anymore. The film seems a step behind what I'm interested in and discovering right now. But it is a good intro for others who are just learning. I've noticed that the Ashtar group is starting to connect themselves with this film and encouraging their followers to see it, which makes me wonder. But I'm sure it's harmless and the only harm will be how people twist it around. Just like with Jacques Fresco's Venus Project Ideas.
