A LOVE AFFAIR WITH DEATH (A Poem)

I once had a Love affair with Death

In which I was the Queen of Pain

We built a house above the rest

And thrived on every bit of vain

He was a character, to say the least

A sinister and playful charm

With whose touch brings a sense of ease

To lost souls and hearts disarmed

Bound to him I found a means

To cradle all my guilt and shame

Through bouts of rage and looming schemes

A riveting and ruthless game

We sang the songs of shock and awe

Mimicking the voice of Fright

Untouchable, above the law

We summoned all the Darkest Nights

But Solitude doth finds its way

To suffocate the melancholy

I broke the chains and ran away

To unknown ground and territory

I chanced upon a lake so bright

And met my Soul, all drenched in wrath

And that was when I married Life

The day I saw myself and laughed
